RESPECT 4 MJ FANS
MyMjjTribute is a professional graphic designer. She’s also a devoted Michael Jackson fan and she often creates stunning MJ artworks that she kindly shares with the fan community on her blog.
For the trial of Conrad Murray, she created an artwork representing a blindfolded Michael Jackson with the words “Justice 4 MJ” written on the red blindfold. She allowed other fans to use this artwork and it quickly started to be used as a profile pictures by many fans on Twitter and Facebook.
But today, she was shocked when she discovered someone had stolen and altered her artwork, changing the colors and the words from “Justice 4 MJ” to “Believe” and from “We demand Justice for you” to “We know you are alive”. Like the original artwork, this picture has already spread and can be seen on many Facebook and Twitter profiles.
As an artist myself (although not professional), it would kill me if that had happened to one of my creations. Imagine how you would feel if you wrote a blog post stating a certain opinion about Michael Jackson, then discovered that someone had changed the title and altered some words to make you say the exact opposite, and if this was then posted and shared everywhere by people who agree with the altered text. I am sure you would feel outraged and angry, and that’s exactly how MyMjjTribute feels.
Regardless of our opinions and feelings about Michael Jackson or about this trial, I think fans should all respect each other, and stealing a fan’s artwork and altering it, especially to make it say something completely different, that’s highly disrespectful.
So now that you know this artwork has been stolen and altered, if you are using the altered version as your profile picture, please remove it.
